New to crypto?
Let's get you started.

Three short lessons take you from “wait, what even is this?” to owning your first Bitcoin, safely and in plain English. No experience needed.

LESSON 01

What is crypto, really?

Crypto is digital money you own and control directly, with no bank sitting in the middle.

Instead of a bank keeping track of your balance, a giant shared record called a blockchain. It's open for anyone to verify, and almost impossible to fake. Bitcoin was the first; today there are over 10,000 different coins.

Explore major coins
  • You hold it, not a bankYou're in direct control, like cash, but digital and global.
  • It lives on a blockchainA shared, tamper-proof ledger that everyone can check.
  • Global & always-onSend or receive anywhere, any time. No opening hours.

You don't need to buy a whole Bitcoin. Coins divide into tiny fractions, so you can start with as little as $10.

LESSON 02

Getting your first wallet

A wallet is simply where your crypto lives, and how you prove it's yours.

It doesn't actually “hold” coins; it holds the secret keys that let you spend them. There are a few kinds, from easiest to most secure. As a beginner, the simplest is perfectly fine to start.

Golden rule: your recovery phrase is the master key to your money. Write it down, keep it offline, and never share it with anyone.

  • Best to start
Exchange walletBuilt into the place you buy. Easiest, with nothing to set up.
  • Mobile app walletAn app you control. More independence, still simple.
  • Hardware walletA physical device for maximum safety. For later, bigger amounts.
LESSON 03

Buying your first crypto

Now the exciting part. Here's exactly what happens, start to finish.

You buy crypto through an exchange, a trusted shop that swaps your normal money for coins. Coinporta's whole job is to point you to the right one for your country and payment method.

Most first purchases take under 10 minutes. You'll need a photo ID and a card or bank account.
