Coinbase to launch 1:1 backed tokenized stocks with automatic dividend payments

Coinbase announced plans to offer tokenized U.S. stocks backed one-for-one by the underlying equities, with onchain ownership and automatic dividend payments, debuting outside the U.S.

  • Coinbase says its tokenized stocks are 1:1 backed by real U.S. equities, not derivatives or IOUs.
  • Holders will receive dividends automatically and can trade, hold and redeem onchain.
  • The product will launch in eligible jurisdictions outside the U.S.; no date announced yet.
  • Kraken, Robinhood, Gemini and Bybit are also racing to offer tokenized stocks.
  • Citi projects tokenized securities could become a multi-trillion-dollar market by 2030.

Why our editor rated this positive

Major exchange entering tokenized stocks with real backing is a strong signal of institutional adoption and bridges traditional finance with crypto infrastructure.
