Trust Wallet Review

Trust Wallet is the multichain mobile wallet by default. Where MetaMask grew out of Ethereum, Trust Wallet was built from the start to hold almost anything — 100+ blockchains and over 10 million assets, from Bitcoin and Ethereum to Solana, Cosmos, XRP, and a vast long tail of tokens. With 70M+ users, it's the go-to self-custody app for people who want one wallet for everything on their phone.

Acquired by Binance in 2018 (though it remains non-custodial and operates independently), it packs a lot into a clean mobile app: a built-in dApp browser, token swaps, staking for a wide range of proof-of-stake assets, NFT support, and fiat on-ramps to buy crypto directly with a card. A browser extension extends it to desktop. The core is open-source, and your keys never leave your device.

As with any hot wallet, the convenience comes with exposure: it lives on an internet-connected phone, so it's not the place for your life savings. Its breadth can also mean less depth than chain-specific tools, and the in-app purchase and swap services carry third-party fees. For active, multichain mobile users who want maximum coin coverage in one free app, though, Trust Wallet is the leading choice — ideally with large holdings moved to cold storage.

What we liked

  • Supports 100+ chains and 10M+ assets
  • Free, non-custodial, open-source core
  • Built-in swaps, staking, NFTs, and dApp browser
  • Buy crypto in-app with a card

What to watch

  • Hot wallet — keep large balances in cold storage
  • In-app buy/swap services carry third-party fees
  • Breadth over depth versus chain-specific wallets

Our verdict

The best free multichain mobile wallet: unmatched coin coverage and a polished app for everyday on-chain use. Perfect as a hot wallet for active balances — move serious holdings to a Ledger or Trezor.

Trust Wallet FAQ

Trust Wallet is non-custodial with an open-source core, so you control your keys. But it's a hot wallet on a connected phone — safe for everyday amounts, while large holdings belong in cold storage. Never share your seed phrase.
