Is crypto legal in France?
Crypto is legal and well-regulated in France. The AMF pioneered a registration regime (PSAN) for crypto providers, now folded into the EU-wide MiCA framework. France actively courted the industry — Binance, Crypto.com and Circle chose it for European bases — so all major exchanges serve French users with full euro support.
Individuals pay a flat 30% tax (the Prélèvement Forfaitaire Unique) on crypto gains, but only when converting to fiat — crypto-to-crypto trades aren't taxed, and total annual gains under €305 are exempt. Free SEPA Instant transfers are the cheapest funding route at Kraken, Coinbase, Binance and Bitstamp. Professional-level trading activity can be taxed differently.
