Crypto is legal in Spain and regulated under the EU's MiCA framework, with the CNMV (securities regulator) and Banco de España overseeing providers. Spain implemented MiCA early, and all major exchanges serve Spanish users with full euro rails. Adoption is among the highest in Western Europe.
Gains are taxed as savings income on a progressive scale from 19% to 28%, depending on the amount. Spain also requires residents to report crypto held on foreign platforms (Modelo 721). Funding is cheapest via free SEPA Instant transfers at Binance, Kraken, Coinbase and Bit2Me, the leading local exchange.
